Meet my new Condor Classico Pista. Yes, it’s millennial pink.

I’m going back to my roots. I grew up in a family of old school roadies. In the winter - you rode fixed.

Why? Winter is a time for long steady base miles, focussing on pedal technique and suplesse.

A fixed-gear teaches you to pedal in full circles, increases leg speed, improves handling and self-awareness.

‘Fixed’ is my favourite way to ride. Your legs and bike synchronise in perfect harmony, its a beautiful thing.

I used to ride fixed all year round, on reliability rides, club runs, chain gangs, hill climbs, solo steady miles, commuting, etc. I’d only choose a derailleur for events or particularly hilly rides.

Unfortunately, about 4 years ago, my dad’s old Holdsworthy 531 track frame gave up the ghost and I never got around to replacing it.

RIP.

RIP.

Now I have a fixed gear bike back in my life and I couldn’t be happier. Why did it take me so long?
